Sons of God tells the story of Raechev, the most powerful female Nephelim still roaming the face of the earth. Two and a half thousand years ago, she incurred the wrath of Elohim when she disobeyed his command: the Nephelim—an ancient half-breed race, the children of angels and mortals—must destroy any of their kinsmen who commit atrocities against mankind. Now, in the present day, the fallen Nephelim have enticed a group of scientists to research the DNA of their ancestors in hopes of cloning a destructive horde. When the mortals begin an archaeological dig near Ishtar’s prison in the ancient city of Nineveh, they begin being possessed or eaten alive in a series of horrifying events—and Raechev must return to face her fate under the gathering storm clouds of Armageddon. Characters
Before the Great Flood, Tagas, a righteous first generation Nephelim, ignored the cries of mortals being slaughtered by his fallen brethren and holed up in a fortress. For this sin, Elohim decreed him to be the Judge and Executioner of his half-breed race. His penance and new duty was a consequence of his fixedly selfish pursuit of Elohim which prevented the needed illustration of Elohim’s love, compassion and protection to the suffering and helpless mortals.
Raechev-el suffers greatly. Believing she obeyed Elohim, she wanders the earth rejected by the righteous and excluded from the protection found in the Cities of Refuge. Through her anger, confusion, suffering and grief; she continually strives to be righteous. Becoming one of the most feared Nephelim warriors, she wrecks havoc on all those who would use her for their own purposes or break the laws of Elohim. But her crucial battles lie within her heart, for the love she cannot quench for her mother, for the desire to experience the love of a soulmate, and for the romantic fascination with the mortal Jordan. She wears an onyx pendant of the Menorah surrounded by a cracked clay substance and prays for redemption and deliverance.
Ishtar, a self-proclaimed goddess, hates Elohim and breaks all his laws, throwing herself into a frenzy of carnal wantonness and demanding mortal sacrifices to her divine godship. At first she humors her daughter Raechev’s desire to remain one of the righteous, but when Tagas executes Raechev’s father, Ishtar orders Raechev to join her in breeding an army against Elohim. Ishtar’s greatest strength is also her greatest weakness; for as the goddess of fertility, love and war, she careens from an intense passion that annihilates logic and common sense to calculating ruthlessness in her attempts to control and manipulate those she professes to love and oftentimes punish.
Caleb is the half-brother of Raechev and son of Ishtar. When the prophet Jonah prophesied to Nineveh, Caleb and his father bent their knees, repented and worshipped Elohim. While pursuing more knowledge in Jerusalem, he learned of his baby sister’s birth and swore to Elohim that he would raise Raechev to be righteous. Although yearning for a family of his own, he lovingly remains at Raechev’s side. He doubts Raechev’s claim that Elohim gave her a sign to disregard His laws and struggles with confronting her on it.
Jordan, a renowned archaeologist respected for ensuring safety on demon filled digs, made his career out of researching anything paranormal, especially spirits, both dark and light. Specializing in ancient religions, he seeks connections of former gods and goddesses to supernatural entities of today. After spotting the ethereal Raechev and witnessing her Nephelim traits, he falls instantly in love and tries to crumble her resistance of embracing him as a lover.
Nimrod, a novelist known as Grigori Dragar, joins his close friend Jordan on many digs that seem to have a paranormal aura to them. He is a walking encyclopedia on ancient Mesopotamian religions and uses the Biblical Nephelim as his creatures in his paranormal novel series. Much to his angst, many think his creatures are vampires. Although the fictional Dracule stems from the truth of the ancient Nephelim, Nimrod desires to separate truth from lore.
John, a nerdy vampire-wanna-be, gets his first big break in graduate school when he is selected to be the overseer’s assistant at the archaeological dig at Nineveh. Although his excitement grows when his favorite vampire novelist shows up at the site, his enchantment quickly turns to horror when his boss is killed by a supernatural entity and his fellow diggers begin showing up dead by what appears to be vampire attacks.
Loki, a Nephelim betrothed to Raechev, seeks her to consummate their betrothal. Known for his trickery, all unrighteous Nephelim are wary, yet willing, to accept help from his hand. Some call him only a giant, others a god, but his actions do not allow Tagas to execute him though he aids the most vile Nephelim to have ever walked the Earth.
