Thanksgiving at Berkeley Plantation, Virginia

Hi everyone,

What many people do not know is that the Virginia Company made a law in 1619 that all colonists were to have a day of Thanksgiving to God every year in November.  President John F. Kennedy recognized this law and officially named Berkeley Plantation and Virginia as the Site of the Official First Thanksgiving in America.  Many presidents since then have come to the annual Thanksgiving Festival.  This last Sunday was the 50th Thanksgiving Festival.  Below are some pictures of the event and videos of the Chickahominy Tribe doing their ancestral dances.

If you are ever in Virginia, it would be a great place to stop in and visit.  Berkeley Plantation is open most every day of the year.
