Sons of God Press Kit (1st edition)

@page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } A:link { color: #0000ff } –>A debut novel explodes onto the literary scene with a captivating, belief-challenging story that will leave you questioning the foundation of the truths humanity embraces. This is an alluring tale of a paranormal half-breed race that connects all modern religions of the world. The Bible refers to them as…

Sons of God

The Sons of God has arrived.

Not since the Da Vinci Code has such an incredible story been revealed. This historical fiction powerfully leaves the reader convinced that what we thought we understood about our history, religion, and reality are to be tested and challenged. We are pushed to seek out and accept a profound truth about who we are and where humanity’s fate is heading.

A theological fantasy, Sons of God is historical, redemptive and educational. Things that have been whispered rumors or the stuff of mythology – vampires, demons, ghosts — are revealed to, in fact, exist. Seemingly something out of the X-Files, Sons of God lends insight into divine knowledge about the universe and the future.

It’s sure to create a crazed dialogue amongst those in religious circles as well as those who study or practice the paranormal. But it’s most likely to leave an indelible footprint into the soul of humanity. The seven most controversial areas Sons of God delves into, include:

  • The continuing controversy on whether angels can father children with humans.
  • The question on whether angels have souls and if their descendants with humans would

have souls or not.

  • The research connecting the Nephelim with ghosts and the origin of terrestrial spirits

trapped here on earth.

  • The research connecting the myths of vampires with the attributes prescribed to Biblical

Nephelim.

  • The research presented from various religions, and the religious leaders representing

those religions arguing on what research (contained at the end of the Sons of God novel)

they do or do not support .

  • The inevitable arguments amongst Judeo-Christian religious readers accepting research

from occult sources and the offense of including them within the whole research package.

  • The discourse on evil spirits, demons, and whether or not Nephelim may still exist.

A lot of things happen, like the paranormal, that Christians shy away from,” says author Rebecca Ellen Kurtz. “There are things for which they have no answers for – but the answers are in the Bible. And the evidence of the existence of a hybrid race (angel and mortal), the Nephelim, is stated in our Holy Scriptures.”

Sons of God, an inspiring and mind-stretching story, was triggered by the author’s personal experience. She had been, in her words: “violently and physically assaulted by demons.” As a result, the history major focused her research into ancient civilizations and religion. What she uncovered was support for the existence of the Nephelim, a paranormal race that has lived amongst us for over 6,000 years. Sons of God details the Nephelim preparation for the final battle between good and evil – Armageddon.

I help connect the dots that flow through the Bible, the Talmud, the Koran, the Rig Veda, and almost any major religious text,” says Rebecca.

Sons of God takes us from 668 BC to the present, sharing dark spiritual struggles through the millennia across Egypt, Iraq, Brazil, Sri Lanka, Jordan, New Atlantis and Nineveh. Sons of God entertains and enlightens, but if we read it as a history book, it’s sure to make you wonder about the origins of modern-day civilization.

Not only is Sons of God a great fantasy read, but it is also based on real life experiences of the paranormal and presents a scholastic educational/theological thesis to stimulate dialogue and controversy by using the Bible, Koran, Torah, and archaeology to prove the existence of vampires and other mythic paranormal entities. Research sources presented at the end of the novel range from the Celts/Druids to Hinduists, from the Christians to Occultists, from Khabbalists to Shintoists, from Jews to Arab/Muslims, from Zoroastrians to Native Americans, from Shamans to Polynesians, and many more.

Now each reader can make their own decision on what is true and what is myth.

Synopsis

Sons of God tells the story of Raechev, the most powerful female Nephelim still roaming the face of the earth. Two and a half thousand years ago, she incurred the wrath of Elohim when she disobeyed his command: the Nephelim – an ancient half-breed race, the children of angels and mortals – must destroy any of their kinsmen who commit atrocities against mankind.

She wants to be righteous and serve Elohim, but cannot bring herself to kill her mother Ishtar. When a supernatural event occurs, she believes Elohim has spared her this inhumane decree, telling her only to trap her mother instead of killing her.

She was weak in her love for her mother, the wanton goddess Ishtar, and was therefore barred from the Creator’s protection in the Cities of Refuge. Still steadfast in her devotion to Elohim, Raechev wanders the mortal realm, exterminating those of her fallen brethren that hunt her and seek to breed an army of a size unrivaled since before the Great Flood.

Now, in the present day, the fallen Nephelim have enticed a group of scientists to research the DNA of their ancestors in hopes of cloning a destructive horde. When mortals begin an archaeological dig near Ishtar’s prison in the ancient city of Nineveh, they begin being possessed or eaten alive in a series of horrifying events – and Raechev must return to face her fate under the gathering storm clouds of Armageddon.

Q&A

Sons of God

  1. What inspired you to write Sons of God? I was heavily immersed within the darkest spiritual struggle of my life and needed an outlet. Sons of God provided a healing balm as I was forced to understand the hows and whys of my suffering. It began with a very supernatural event that I could not deny yet opposed religious teachings I had been taught. Signs continued to support the supernatural event which led to continuing confusion and anger as I stumbled blindly in pain and isolation searching for an answer. But for the first time in my life, God was silent and my anger towards God grew. The writing of Sons of God gave me peace again and healed that breach. Now, I see the beauty and wisdom in God’s silence.
  1. You write about the Nephelim. What is their lasting impact? In the Bible, the Nephelim were the children of angels and mortals. In Genesis 6:4 these Nephelim were recorded to be heroes and mighty men of renown and later some were told to have been terrorizing giants who fed off mortals and forced humans to worship them as gods. This isn’t just in the Bible but is recorded in all ancient civilizations, something that should not be taken lightly. Even today we still hear tales and legends of semi-divine heroic beings like Achilles, Hercules, and Thor as well as supernatural creatures who prey on mankind like vampires, ghosts, and demons. Their legends have not died.
  1. Your diverse research into ancient civilizations, the scriptures and religion led you to believe in the Nephelim. Why? Every ancient civilization and religion speak of these Nephelim and demonic entities, but the most important fact is that they write about how to protect themselves from these supernatural entities, sharing horror tales of blood-drinking, semi-divine rulers and fear of demonic assaults or possession. There was no mass communication in ancient times, yet they all described the same supernatural entities and strategized ways to protect themselves. Saying it is a coincidence defies logic. Noting the serious and divergent methods of protection, anyone with common sense knows the entities were real. Even in today’s scientific and enlightened era, people still cannot deny what they have experienced. Experience trumps intellect.
  1. If angels and mortals really mated, as your book suggests, what happened to the half-breed children? Are they amongst us today? The Torah, believed by the Jews, Christians and Muslims, says that many were killed in the flood. During Abraham’s time, the Old Testament mentions the descendants of the giants warring against one another, and even later Moses and Joshua continued to battle the descendants of the giants to take control of their Promised Land. For those who believe Ezekiel and Revelations literally, they may be surprised to hear that the descendants of Gog and Magog would be raised again before Armageddon. Gog and Magog were Nephelim. Also, it is written that the spirits of the Nephelim are trapped on earth after their mortal bodies are killed. These spirits are now known as ghosts and demons. So yes, for religious people, they are still amongst us.
  1. Have others compared your book to Twilight Saga, the DaVinci Code, or Lord of the Rings? Yes, actually. At first people said that Sons of God was most like a realistic Lord of the Rings, foundationally constructed on Biblical paranormal creatures and truths. Others have mentioned that it is the antithesis of the DaVinci Code because its extra-Biblical sources support the existence of a supernatural or paranormal realm. Then, some women zeroed in on the romance angle and connection with vampires. It was after these comments that I picked up the Twilight series and read them. Of course my vampires are based on historical accounts and are evil.
  1. You implore us to “seek the truth.” What will we discover? That depends on your background. Christians have mentioned how much of the Old Testament they didn’t know, think about, or connect to modern tales of vampires, ghosts, and demons. Muslims have commented on the expanding knowledge of the Jinn. Vampire lore-lovers have commented on the scholastic research of vampires and the differences between that and Bram Stroker’s Dracule that flavors most modern movies today. It really depends on your background. Most religions or cults do not look outside of their own religious texts, so finding supporting evidence of one’s own belief of paranormal entities by all religions of the world can be staggering and mind-stretching.
  1. Your book predicts a final battle between good and evil, Armageddon. Why are we heading down that path? Three main reasons. One, deep within all of us there is a constant battle between being good or evil and with each small decision, we take steps that can greatly alter our future self. Two, the Bible is full of prophecies that have already come true, some we can see occurring now, and Armageddon is one which still looms ahead. Over the last six thousand years, the Biblical prophecies have come true thus far, so I believe it wise to take the rest of them seriously. Three, in the Armageddon prophecy, we see the re-emergence of the Nephelim, when they come out of hiding amongst us, preparing for the battle ahead.
  1. You say your book’s theme is the understanding of suffering and the healing that comes from it. Can you elaborate on this? Everyone suffers. Our misery grows when we dwell on ourselves or wallow in self-pity. We can control our own suffering. We can choose to look at the good, the positive, the beautiful things in our life. We can find the purpose for our suffering – which is not laying blame at someone else’s feet, but realizing how we can use our suffering to help someone else. Each time we help someone else who is suffering like we once did, it heals us. Focusing on ourselves only drives the pain deeper within us, but reaching out, heals that cut within ourselves. My suffering came from a confusing supernatural event and silence from God, as does the protagonist in the novel. But now when I hear someone else making the wrong choices that I did, I can reach out and help them not make the same mistakes and fall into bitterness as deep as I had.
  1. You claim to have been assaulted by demons. How so? When? Where? There have been several, but perhaps I’ll only mention the first. When I was in my junior year at Goshen College, I was awakened by a pervading sense of evil that roiled my stomach. I tried to cast it out by speaking the name of Jesus Christ which had worked before, but I soon realized that I couldn’t speak because there was a strong pressure on my vocal chords. When I opened my eyes, I saw a demon pressing down on my throat, disenabling me from exorcising him away. The more I tried to speak, the harder it pressed down. Finally, my adrenaline kicked in when my need for oxygen became lethal, and I screeched out “blood of Jesus.” It disappeared. My mom called the next morning asking why she had awoken early in the morning knowing she needed to pray for me because my life was in grave danger. I told her.
  1. Why do you consider yourself a natural-born seer? The word seer confuses and scares a lot of people. Before I educated myself, the term scared me as well. For clarification, a seer is someone who is born with extra sensory perception. In the Bible, Samuel is listed as a seer before the explanation that most all of God’s seers became his prophets. Starting at the age of four, I first heard the voice of God, then dreams and visions began. From time to time I can see demons but I sense their presence more than I can see them. I was able to “know” things about others, sense their emotions, etc., which made me a hermit in my early to mid twenties because I had enough emotional baggage and really didn’t want to know or deal with anyone else’s. Christians should not confuse receiving dreams or visions after conversion as being a seer, that is a spiritual gift. Seers are born seers and sadly are oftentimes run out of churches instead of embraced — many seeking answers in the occult with others who understand what they are experiencing.
  1. Why do most developed countries try to convince themselves that spirits do not exist? Ever since Darwin, science has tried to prove that God and spiritual entities do not exist. It’s like a badge of education or proving that they have matured into adulthood. The Tooth Fairy wasn’t real so nothing else that I can’t touch with my fingers isn’t either and of course there’s nothing to fear anymore like the goblin who used to live under my bed. And yet, chills still go up our spine when we enter places that practice occultism, people sell their houses convinced that ghosts are living there, and exorcisms are still widely complained about. In a developed country, the mind tries to convince the spirit that we are alone, yet deep down we know better. Our mind blames our imagination, yet our sixth sense yells danger.
  1. You claim the Bible, Torah and Koran support the existence of vampires. How so? Please define “vampire.” Historically and literally, vampire means “blood drinker.” If you follow the genealogical descendants of the Nephelim in the Old Testament which the Jews, Christians and Muslims all believe in, you will see where we get our myths of vampires. The descendants of the Nephelim, post Flood, were described as having unnaturally long lives, were nine to twelve feet tall, and were much paler than mortals. If you know your history, you would also know that these giants were known to drink blood from skulls, flay people alive, and sacrifice babies to demons – these were common practices of the descendants of the Nephelim. So, here we have pale, unnaturally long-lived, paranormal creatures who drank blood recorded by both ancient civilizations and religious texts. Sound familiar?
  1. Who is your staunchest critic? Why? Uneducated and close-minded religious people. When I say uneducated religious people, I refer to their knowledge of their own religious texts which sadly, a lot of people do not know their own religious texts well. When I say close-minded religious people, I refer to those who are scared to hear other religions because they are not firm enough in their own beliefs not to feel threatened which leads to blind attacks. And of course atheists, who believe I am a liar or chemically imbalanced because they haven’t personally experienced anything divine.
  1. What type of discourse do you hope your book will inspire in regards to evil spirits or demons? Differentiating between fallen angels, demons/evil spirits, and ghosts. The Book of Enoch explains that the spirits of the Nephelim are trapped on Earth after the death of their mortal bodies. They are greatly pained if not inhabiting another body hence the reason why the demons in the Bible chose to inhabit swine instead of being simply cast out. Jesus himself differentiates between spirits that possess humans that are easily cast out versus fallen angels who only can be exorcised by prayer and fasting. It should make anyone pause before simply exorcising someone. People have come to me for help when they are being bitten or scratched by unseen entities. No one should be unprepared.
  1. How will the religious community accept your book’s position on whether angels can father children with humans? This has been a theological debate for a long time and is actually the reason why the Book of Enoch was left out of the Bible even though Jesus, himself, quotes from it. Angels can take on mortal flesh and function like mortals. For example, in the Bible, angels were recorded as coming and eating as humans with Abraham, Sodomites raved to have carnal knowledge with the angels visiting Lot, Jacob wrestled with an angel, etc. Secondly, consider the offspring, they were physical giants and super-humans – doesn’t sound like the simple offspring of righteous and unrighteous mortals as some theologians attest. Furthermore, any religious person who believes in the virgin birth, must believe that a spirit can impregnate a woman.

Sons of God

Reveals A Semi-Paranormal Race

Was there a paranormal race from ancient civilizations that persisted throughout the ages that connects all modern world religions? According to a controversial new novel, Sons of God, the answer will deepen our understanding of life.

In Sons of God, author Rebecca Ellen Kurtz introduces us to Raechev-el, the most powerful female Nephelim still roaming the world. For two and a half millennia she has sought redemption from the Creator and protection within the Cities of Refuge.

Instead, the gates are closed and guarded. Instead, the Creator’s executioner seeks to destroy her. Instead, her fallen brethren hunt her to breed an army unrivaled since before the Great Flood. Instead, an archaeologist follows her who knows too much about her half-breed race and who may be her downfall.

Nephelim are beings who appear in the Hebrew Bible, specifically in the Book of Genesis, and are also mentioned in other Biblical texts and in several non-canonical Jewish writings.

The Nephelim were an antediluvian race (pre-Flood) which are referred to in the Bible as giants. They were reportedly the children born from the “daughters of men” and the “Sons of God.” It is most important to note that they are mentioned almost simultaneous to God’s statement that He would destroy the earth by flood and it seems from this association that their affect upon mankind was one of the primary justifications that brought the destruction.

Some believe these “unearthly” beings came to cohabit Earth like men two different times.  Some Christians translate the Biblical “Sons of God” to be righteous men and the “daughters of men” to be the unrighteous descendants of Cain (the son of Adam and Eve who kills his brother Abel) even though Jewish Talmud scholars view the term “Sons of God” to be angels since Satan and other angels are termed “Sons of God” three times in Job which historically occurs before the Flood and was written by Moses, the author of Genesis who scribes the parentage of the giant Nephelim in question.  Same author, same term for angels.

Rebecca concludes, based on her research and experience with the paranormal realm, that all ancient civilizations and archaeology support the existence of a semi-paranormal race that has existed amongst us for at least six thousand years.

It’s up to everyone to explore their faith and examine the facts,” says Rebecca. “Then they can draw their own conclusion and decide on what is truth and what is myth.”

Select Excerpts

Who Has The Power?

Elohim promised never to destroy the world by a flood again, and he cannot stop us from populating the world with strong Nephelim. It will be as it should be. The humans are here only to serve us. They see us as gods, and why shouldn’t they? We have power that they can only dream of.” Ishtar leaned closer and lowered her voice. “I have sent for some of the first and second generation male Nephelim. We will both give our race as many pure Nephelim as we can. It is our duty as being the two strongest females alive. Clementia’s father Achilles had too much human blood, and we don’t want her weak blood tainting our warrior race. I have decided to give your virginity to Loki since Odin is already married. He’s expecting your full cooperation and should be arriving later tonight.”

I will not whore myself to Loki.” Aghast, Raechev fumed.

Ishtar bristled. “What, you want to be his helpmate instead? Really, staying with the same man for all eternity? Honey, you don’t know anything. Females have a lot of power over males. Males are controlled by their sexual demands and we have the power to use that against them. Helpmate? Please! To be submissive to a male – one so controlled by his own lusts? We can get them to do anything we want. You want to give that power away? You want to chain yourself to someone else and serve their needs night and day?”

An Immortal

Ishtar turned mournful eyes on her daughter. “Raechev, this is war, war against Elohim. There aren’t many of us left. We must…” Ishtar paused as a drunken King of Nineveh dropped to his knees in front of her.

My goddess Ishtar, our descendants need your divine blood to make them strong enough to rule their neighbors. My goddess, let me come into you so that your worshippers may not be taken from you.” The King swayed from his inebriation.

Do you think a mere mortal could entice my sexual favors? I have given enough to you walking clay pots. Your father Esarhaddon died less than a year ago. What have you done to deserve my body?” Ishtar challenged contemptuously.

Stupid Humans

Most developed countries, or so they defined themselves, tried to convince themselves that spirits did not exist – but then again, some even said there was no god. Stupid humans, did they really think they were the smartest creatures in the universe? Yeah, their science was funny. If humans couldn’t prove something with gadgets and microscopes they created, then it didn’t exist. She might be ticked off with Elohim, but she would never be so stupid to say that He didn’t exist.

A Special People

Jordan decided to keep his mouth shut for now and proceed. Taking notes on the entire site was important, and then he’d decide how to beef up security. Jordan swung around a large dirt mound and had his first glimpse of the former city. Its beige walls and gateways, although partially reconstructed, sat desolate and loomed grandly over the grassland plateau overlooking the Tigris River and modern Mosul. The walls had once been two hundred feet high and wide enough for three chariots to cross, but now, in some places they barely rose above fifty feet. Archaeologists marveled at the enormity of the Assyrian cities, but they deserved less acclaim. The Assyrians were descendants of the Amorites, known for being giants in the land – blood thirsty tyrants who ruled men as slaves and fodder. Their colossal cities weren’t that overly splendid when you took in the builders’ height and girth. Modern man marveled. How did they do it? How did they make the ancient wonders? Well, for starters, they weren’t like the short humans walking around today.

Armageddon

Her eyes shifted to the Jezreel Valley, the small green valley had been the crossroads of the ancient world, a path the caravans took to avoid dangerous routes through deserts, seas and mountains; all passing through the town centered at these crossroads, Megiddo. Every powerful empire in history had captured and held Megiddo to control the commerce of the ancient world. And, according to John’s revelation, it was here, that the final battle between good and evil would be fought: Armageddon!

Armageddon was where she would redeem herself. This is where she would prove herself. She would fight on Elohim’s side because that is where she belonged. She was weak. She knew she was weak. She had a tendency to fall away from Elohim, but Elohim drove her to it. If Elohim was in complete control, then there must be a reason. She had to cling to that hope – that her suffering had a purpose.

Battle of Beliefs

But anyone can sense evil. Perhaps the evil in the air is what drives the imagination.” Caleb was beginning to like the novelist who held himself so aloof as if nothing fazed him, but he was definitely a well thought out man. Grigori might not appear to notice or care what others said or thought, but he seemed to take note of everything and hid them in his memory for later digestion.

Even now, man is trying to prove the existence of ghosts or spirits by technology, and occurrences not able to be explained by science or technology are called miracles. Doctors shrug, humans grasp at explanations and yet their feeble attempts to prove a spiritual realm are denied. Although humans try to use science and technology to prove what is and is not real, they only limit themselves. The universe cannot be limited by such vulgar measuring sticks. The human soul knows better. Our spirits can sense something larger than us, and it can sense other spirits when they cross our path, so we search while putting on the blindfolds of science.”

Caleb wagged his finger. “Some humans believe.”

Free Will

It is one thing for a fallen angel to tempt a human to sin, to whisper in their ears trying to cause them to fall away from God – you see they cannot force the humans to do anything or take away their free will, but the Watchers…they physically manifested themselves and forced themselves upon women and now their children spawn spirits that can possess mortals. It takes away the human’s free will. The Watchers taught the humans their craft – known today as witchcraft and sorcery, taught them how to build strong metals for weapons to kill, taught abortion, astrology and many other powers that humans were not meant to dabble in or possess. Many have died. Many have sinned by these enticements of power, selfishness and greed. Human nature is difficult enough to fight without adding what the Watchers taught. And the giants, they fed on the humans, drinking their blood, sucking their veins dry. Instead of mankind being placed as an overseer of creation, they became the hunted, the food – their free will and lives taken. You ask what’s worse, John? It is the taking of another’s free will, especially, when it could cost them their soul.”

Fear of Tagas

Tagas will come for her. He has enough time to get here before the Day of Atonement ends, and when he is done with her, he will kill you.”

I have kept myself pure.” Raechev had obeyed all the laws for redemption. She had never drunk blood, never used humans for sustenance, and never procreated with mortals, or Nephelim for that matter.

Your virginity will not save you. By your lack of obedience, you have allowed Ishtar and her minions to kill hundreds and force debauchery.”

Love

Every once in a while, she wanted to talk to Ishtar. Even if she was evil, she was still her mother and had done the normal motherly things while Raechev was growing up. Ishtar had taught her a lot. A lot she didn’t want to know, but some she did. She actually felt sorry for her mother, her mother really did love Baalim. Raechev had found her crying alone on many occasions with a clay tablet with her father’s image on it. Sometimes Raechev thought that her promiscuity was a small type of revenge against Baalim for loving and leaving her. Ishtar had always been a little more of a voyeur than one who had participated. She gave children to the Assyrian kings, strengthened their armies with her blood if need be, but she almost seemed fearful of pursuing a relationship with another Nephelim after Baalim. Raechev didn’t know if it was from fear of suffering another rejection after such a passionate love again.

Raechev did remember Sennachareb, the Assyrian king who Ishtar claimed to have loved. He had spent every night with her mother, forsaking his own queen. Ishtar had never turned him away and always seemed happy when he came. When the king died, Ishtar had cried all night. She had spent years with him, but what were mortal years to Ishtar’s eternity? Ishtar had fled back to Baalim, but when she returned, she never spoke of the encounter and began a long session of endless affairs.

Ancient Texts on Divine Beings Mating With Humans

Then addressing me, He spoke and said, Hear, neither be afraid, O righteous Enoch, you scribe of righteousness: approach hither, and hear my voice. Go, say to the Watchers of heaven, who have sent you to pray for them. You ought to pray for men, and not men for you. Wherefore have you forsaken the lofty and holy heaven, which endures forever, and have lain with women; have defiled yourselves with the daughters of men; have taken to yourselves wives; have acted like the sons of the earth, and have begotten a giant offspring? You being spiritual, holy; and possessing a life which is eternal, have polluted yourselves with women; have begotten in carnal blood; have lusted in the blood of men; and have done as those who are flesh and blood do. These however die and perish. Therefore have I given to them wives, that they might cohabit with them; that sons might be born of them; and that this might be transacted upon earth. But you from the beginning were made spiritual, possessing a life which is eternal, and not subject to death forever. Therefore I made not wives for you, because, being spiritual, your dwelling is in heaven. –Book of Enoch, Chapter 15:1-7

Subsequently they strayed after earthly women and to this day they endure, teaching sorcery to human beings. They engendered children, whom they called Mighty Giants, while the nefilim themselves are called sons of Elohim, as has been explained. “ — Zohar 1:58a – Khabbalah

Physical Attributes of Nephelim

And there we saw the giants/Nephelim, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants/Nephelim: and we in our own sight were as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.” –Numbers 13:33, Holy Bible

The Emites used to live there – a people numerous, and as tall as the Anakites. Which were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites call them Emims.” — Deuteronomy 2:10-11, Holy Bible

Ancient Texts on Spirits of the Nephelim

King Solomon captured the demon Ornasis and made him reveal the names of all the other spirits and demons. One by one Solomon called them up and interrogated them. One of the spirits he invoked came forth in the shadowy form of a man with gleaming eyes. “Who are you?” King Solomon asked. The spirit replied, “I am a lecherous spirit of a giant who died in a massacre in the age of the giants.” Solomon said, “Where do you dwell?” The spirit replied, “I live in inaccessible places. I seat myself near the dead in their tombs and at midnight I assume the form of the dead. If I encounter anyone, I cause him to be possessed by a demon.” And when he heard these things, King Solomon locked up that demon, just like all the other demons he had called forth. –Testament of Solomon 17

From the days of slaughter, destruction and death of these giants, their spirits, having left the flesh, shall destroy without incurring judgment until the final day, the day of consummation – a great judgment day of both the Watchers and the godless.” –Lost Book of Enoch 1:35

Before the Great Flood, Tagas, a righteous first generation Nephelim, ignored the cries of mortals being slaughtered by his fallen brethren and holed up in a fortress. For this sin, Elohim decreed him to be the Judge and Executioner of his half-breed race. His penance and new duty was a consequence of his fixedly selfish pursuit of Elohim, which prevented the needed illustration of Elohim’s love, compassion and protection to the suffering and helpless mortals.

Raechev suffers greatly. Believing she obeyed Elohim, she wanders the earth rejected by the righteous and excluded from the protection found in the Cities of Refuge. Through her anger, confusion, suffering and grief; she continually strives to be righteous. Becoming one of the most feared Nephelim warriors, she wrecks havoc on all those who would use her for their own purposes or break the laws of Elohim. But her crucial battles lie within her heart, for the love she cannot quench for her mother, for the desire to experience the love of a soul mate, and for the romantic fascination with the mortal Jordan. She wears an onyx pendant of the Menorah surrounded by a cracked clay substance and prays for redemption and deliverance.

Ishtar, a self-proclaimed goddess, hates Elohim and breaks all his laws, throwing herself into a frenzy of carnal wantonness and demanding mortal sacrifices to her divine godship. At first she humors her daughter Raechev’s desire to remain one of the righteous, but when Tagas executes Raechev’s father, Ishtar orders Raechev to join her in breeding an army against Elohim. Ishtar’s greatest strength is also her greatest weakness; for as the goddess of fertility, love and war, she careens from an intense passion that annihilates logic and common sense to calculating ruthlessness in her attempts to control and manipulate those she professes to love and oftentimes punish.

Caleb is the half-brother of Raechev and son of Ishtar. When the prophet Jonah prophesied to Nineveh, Caleb and his father bent their knees, repented and worshipped Elohim. While pursuing more knowledge in Jerusalem, he learned of his baby sister’s birth and swore to Elohim that he would raise Raechev to be righteous. Although yearning for a family of his own, he lovingly remains at Raechev’s side. He doubts Raechev’s claim that Elohim gave her a sign to disregard His laws and struggles with confronting her on it.

Jordan, a renowned archaeologist respected for ensuring safety on demon filled digs, made his career out of researching anything paranormal, especially spirits, both dark and light. Specializing in ancient religions, he seeks connections of former gods and goddesses to supernatural entities of today. After spotting the ethereal Raechev and witnessing her Nephelim traits, he falls instantly in love and tries to crumble her resistance of embracing him as a lover.

Nimrod, a novelist known as Grigori Dragar, joins his close friend Jordan on many digs that seem to have a paranormal aura to them. He is a walking encyclopedia on ancient Mesopotamian religions and uses the Biblical Nephelim as his creatures in his paranormal novel series. Much to his angst, many think his creatures are vampires. Although the fictional Dracule stems from the truth of the ancient Nephelim, Nimrod desires to separate truth from lore.

John, a nerdy vampire-wanna-be, gets his first big break in graduate school when he is selected to be the overseer’s assistant at the archaeological dig at Nineveh. Although his excitement grows when his favorite vampire novelist shows up at the site, his enchantment quickly turns to horror when his boss is killed by a supernatural entity and his fellow diggers begin showing up dead by what appears to be vampire attacks.

Loki, a Nephelim betrothed to Raechev, seeks her to consummate their betrothal. Known for his trickery, all unrighteous Nephelim are wary, yet willing, to accept help from his hand. Some call him only a giant, others a god, but his actions do not allow Tagas to execute him though he aids the most vile Nephelim to have ever walked the Earth.
